Jess Smith creates Indie-Soul music, blending singer-songwriter styles, blues, country and Rock ‘n’ Roll. She writes and performs music with delicate melodies and meaningful lyrics, inspired by artists like Sarah McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt, Erykah Badu, Lianne La Havas, and TRAIN.

Growing up in a small hamlet in Alberta, Jess was mentored by elder musicians and eventually earned a Vocal Performance Diploma from Grant MacEwan University. She has since written, recorded and produced her debut solo EP, Revealed. Her performances range from cafes, restaurants and pubs to larger platforms such as a cross-Canada tour, which included shows with VIA Rail and Calgary Stampede.

When not performing, Jess shares her passion for music as a music instructor. She is also completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and intends to continue her studies with a Master’s in Counselling to combine her knowledge in music and psychology to support the well-being of children, teens and adults.
